Mesh Banners

Mesh banners are made for outdoor spaces where wind is part of the job. At @Print in Randfontein, we print mesh banners for fencing, site hoardings, building wraps and event messaging across the West Rand.

What a mesh banner does on site

A mesh banner is a printed PVC banner with tiny perforations that let air pass through. That makes it a practical choice for windy boundaries, open fencing and long runs on scaffolding where a solid banner can catch too much wind. The print still carries well from the street, but the banner is easier on the structure behind it.

We supply mesh banners for business sites, construction fences, school events, shopfront cover-ups and promotional runs in Randfontein CBD, Greenhills, Toekomsrus, Mohlakeng, Krugersdorp, Westonaria, Mogale City and Roodepoort. If your message needs to stay up outdoors for weeks or months, mesh is often the safer option.

It is also useful where there is dust, heat and direct sun. The material handles day to day exposure better than paper posters, and it can be rolled, stored and re-used if you need the same message on another site later.

Sizes, finishing and print options

Mesh banners can be printed to suit a small frontage or a full site perimeter. Common sizes include 1 m x 2 m, 1 m x 3 m, 1.2 m x 2.4 m, 1.5 m x 3 m and larger custom panels. We can also split a long banner into sections if the site needs multiple fixing points or if the structure is uneven.

Finishing can include welded hems, eyelets, ropes and reinforced edges for better hold. If the banner will be tied to fencing, eyelets at regular spacing make installation quicker. For long runs, we often suggest reinforced hems with eyelets every 300 mm to 500 mm depending on wind exposure and fixing method.

For artwork, we print full colour digital graphics with your logo, message, contact details and site notes. We also handle logo refreshes, banner artwork, proofing updates and print-ready artwork where the supplied file needs cleanup. If the text must be read from a road or passing vehicle, we will help keep the font size practical and the layout clean.

Best uses for West Rand conditions

Mesh banners suit places where the wind shifts through the day and the surface needs to breathe. They work well on construction sites in Roodepoort and Mogale City, commercial fencing in Krugersdorp, temporary notices in Westonaria and roadside messaging in Randfontein. If a banner is going onto a wall, palisade fence, scaffold frame or site barrier, mesh helps reduce strain on the fixing points.

These banners are also a decent choice for outdoor promotions near busy entrances and open yards. The perforated surface keeps the banner lighter than a solid vinyl option, so it is easier to handle during installation and removal. In dusty areas, the print still stands up well, though the banner should be cleaned now and then to keep the artwork visible.

Where the message includes dates, direction arrows or safety notes, mesh gives enough visibility without making the structure take a beating in stronger wind. For longer-term outdoor use, this is often the more practical answer.

Installation, fixing points and power needs

Mesh banners are fitted using ties, ropes, bungee cords or other fixing methods that suit the frame or fence. The main thing is to keep the banner tension even so it does not flap hard in the wind. On large panels, we recommend more fixing points around the edges and at stress points, especially near corners and joins.

There is no gas requirement for the banner itself. If your site has lighting, tools or a temporary office nearby, plan for load-shedding as well, because printing, fitting and site access may be affected by power interruptions. For delivery and installation on active sites, we suggest checking access times, gate control and whether the area needs municipal approval or site permission before the banner goes up.

If the banner will sit on public facing property, it is worth checking the local rules on temporary signage, projection over sidewalks and any estate or council restrictions. A quick check now can save a removal later. We can advise on sensible sizing and fixing based on where the banner will hang.

How to keep a mesh banner in good condition

Mesh banners are low maintenance, but they last longer with a bit of care. Dust, rain and sun will eventually show on any outdoor print, so an occasional wipe with clean water and a soft cloth helps. Avoid harsh chemicals, scrubbing brushes and pressure washers, because those can damage the print surface and the hems.

If the banner is stored after use, roll it rather than folding it. Folding can crease the print and weaken the edges over time. Keep it dry, out of direct sun and away from sharp objects. In humid coastal conditions the banner still performs well, but it should be dried before packing if it gets wet. That cuts down on grime and keeps the eyelets and hems from wearing too fast.

For reused banners, inspect the eyelets, seams and corners before re-installing. If the print has faded or the message has changed, we can help with a reprint or updated layout so the site stays clear and professional.

What to check before you order

Before we print, it helps to confirm the final size, where the banner will be fixed and how far people will stand from it. A banner viewed from across a road needs bigger text than one used at a gate. If the area is very windy, tell us that too so we can advise on more fixings, stronger hems or a different panel split.

Please also check the artwork file, spelling and contact details. If you do not have final artwork, we can help with banner design, artwork redraws and proofing updates. Our team in Randfontein CBD handles orders for businesses across the West Rand through the enquiry form on our contact page.

  • Final dimensions and orientation: landscape or portrait
  • Where it will hang and how it will be fixed
  • Viewing distance and message length
  • Need for eyelets, hems or reinforced edges
  • Artwork status, spelling and logo quality
  • Any site rules, access limits or approval requirements

We keep the process practical: confirm the brief, check the file, print, finish and get it ready for collection or delivery. If you need more than one banner for different branches or sites, we can keep the wording consistent across each version so the message stays tidy.

Questions we get asked

What is the difference between a mesh banner and a solid banner?

A mesh banner has small holes that let wind pass through, so it puts less strain on fences and frames. A solid banner blocks more wind and can work better where there is shelter.

Can you make mesh banners for construction sites?

Yes. They are a common choice for site fencing, hoardings and perimeter messaging. We can size them to suit the fence and add eyelets or reinforced edges for easier fitting.

Do you help with artwork if I only have a logo and text?

Yes. We can set up the layout, tidy the artwork and send proofing updates before print. If the file needs redraws or a quick logo refresh, we can assist with that too.
